Queen City ATA
The Tiny Tigers program helps young children build confidence, focus, and self-control through fun Songahm Taekwondo classes designed for early development. Instructors teach positive attitude, goal setting, and respect in a supportive environment that fits the values parents want at home.
Each class blends movement, teamwork, and social interaction to strengthen listening skills and improve attention. Children stay excited with character-based lessons, collectible patches, and a belt system that teaches them how to set and achieve goals. Parents love this program because it builds confident leaders, active kids, and healthy habits that last.
The Karate for Kids program helps children ages six to twelve build confidence, discipline, and strong social skills through engaging Songahm Taekwondo training. Classes focus on goal setting, respect, and perseverance while giving kids a fun way to develop coordination, focus, and healthy habits.
Students work together, learn to follow instructions, and build friendships through partner drills and team-based activities. Queen City ATA is a family-centered martial arts school in Charlotte dedicated to helping children grow into confident leaders while giving adults a clear path to better fitness, focus, and real-world self-defense. As part of ATA Martial Arts, a proven system founded in 1969, our programs are built on discipline, respect, and goal setting that support growth both on and off the mat. Located at 11401 Ardrey Kell Rd, Queen City ATA is led by Chief Instructor and Owner Mr. Shankaran Jayakumaran, a fourth-degree black belt who is deeply committed to helping students reach their full potential.
Mr. Jayakumaran understands the impact martial arts can have because he lived it himself. As a child, he struggled with confidence and hesitation before stepping onto the mat. That decision changed the direction of his life. When he opened Queen City ATA in 2019, his goal was simple and powerful, to give families in Charlotte the same opportunity to build confidence, character, and leadership through Songahm Taekwondo in a supportive and structured environment.
